About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Assistance: Provide direct support to students, both individually and in small groups, with their academic work. This could involve tutoring, reinforcing concepts taught in class, and providing extra help with assignments.
  • Behavior Management: Collaborate with the teacher to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment. This involves implementing behavior management strategies and de-escalating conflicts as needed.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other school staff. Actively participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with various administrative tasks as assigned, such as photocopying materials, organizing student records, and preparing reports.
  • Special Education Support (if applicable): Depending on the specific role, you may provide specialized support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), working closely with special education teachers and related service providers.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable. This could include volunteering, tutoring, or previous paraprofessional experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. A genuine commitment to supporting student success.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability are essential.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
